How to get to the new Huanggang Port from Hong Kong
Updated
The new Huanggang Port opened at 6:30 am on 12 October 2026, with 24-hour passenger clearance. At the same time, the old Lok Ma Chau Control Point stopped handling passengers, so older routes via Lok Ma Chau no longer work. The Hong Kong side of the port is a closed area with no public car park, so public transport or a taxi is the practical way in.
Before you go
- Don't take the East Rail Line to Lok Ma Chau station. That station is for Futian Port, not Huanggang.
- There's no public car park at the port.
- The Hong Kong side is a closed area. You need a valid travel document to cross, or a Closed Area Permit if you're not crossing, so you can't just drop someone off and walk in.
- Taxis: red urban and green N.T. taxis queue at stands in the port's transport interchange. There's also a fleet-taxi pick-up area, bookable through the Octopus app's "Easy Ride" or fleet apps. Pre-booked non-fleet taxis can't pick up at the port.

Questions
What are Huanggang Port's opening hours?
24 hours.
Can I still cross at Lok Ma Chau Control Point?
No. Passenger clearance there was suspended from 6:30 am on 12 October 2026 and moved to the new Huanggang Port.
Is there an MTR station at the port?
No. Use a bus, minibus, cross-border coach or taxi.
Can I drive there to drop someone off?
There's no public car park, and the Hong Kong side is a closed area, so people who aren't crossing need a Closed Area Permit.
Fares and hours are the Transport Department's, checked 12 October 2026. Operators may change them, so check the operator before you travel.
