Lo Wu: the classic walk-across to Luohu

Lo Wu is the last stop on the East Rail line, so you need no bus. It's the busiest crossing, and the Immigration Department says waits are longer at peak hours, especially in peak seasons, at weekends and on holidays. Use it for Luohu and Dongmen. Full directions from TST · Plan your trip to Lo Wu

Lok Ma Chau Spur Line: the easy way to Futian

East Rail trains split after Sheung Shui: some go to Lo Wu, some to Lok Ma Chau. Check the platform screen. From Lok Ma Chau a footbridge takes you to Futian Port and Futian Checkpoint station on the Shenzhen Metro. It closes earlier (10:30pm) than Lo Wu.

Don't confuse it with the old Lok Ma Chau Control Point (the road crossing at San Tin). That stopped handling passengers on 12 Oct 2026 when the new Huanggang Port opened. The rail crossing is unaffected. Full directions from Central · Plan your trip to Lok Ma Chau

Shenzhen Bay: for Nanshan, Shekou and the west

No train goes to the port. Take the Tuen Ma line to Yuen Long (bus B2), Tin Shui Wai (B2P) or Tuen Mun (B3X). Hong Kong and mainland checks are in the same building, so you clear both in one go. Full directions from TST · Plan your trip to Shenzhen Bay Port

High-speed rail from West Kowloon: fastest on the train, not always door to door

Trains reach Futian in about 14 minutes and Shenzhen North in about 18–20 minutes. Second class is HK$79 to Futian and HK$87 to Shenzhen North (fares from 11 Oct 2026; the HKD price changes monthly). Tickets are tied to your passport, and you should arrive at least 45 minutes before departure, because ticket checks close 30 minutes before. Both immigration checks happen inside the station. Once you add the check-in time, the MTR to Lok Ma Chau is often just as quick to Futian. The train wins for Shenzhen North and Guangzhou. Directions from TST · Plan your trip to West Kowloon Station

Huanggang Port: open 24 hours, by bus or coach

The new Huanggang Port opened on 12 Oct 2026 and clears passengers around the clock, with one queue for both sides. There's no MTR station. Use the B-series buses, minibuses, the night bus NB73 or cross-border coaches. Huanggang Port guide: buses, coaches and taxis

Heung Yuen Wai: for Liantang and east Luohu

The newest land crossing. Take the East Rail line to Sheung Shui and minibus 59S, or bus B8 from Sha Tin. It closes at 10pm. Full directions from Sha Tin

Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge: for Zhuhai and Macau

Get to the HZMB Hong Kong Port near the airport, then take the gold shuttle bus to Zhuhai or Macau. It runs 24 hours, every 5 minutes at busy times and every 15–30 minutes overnight. The fare is HK$65, or HK$70 from midnight to 6am. Directions from TST · Hong Kong to Macau: ferry vs bridge bus
