How to get from Tsim Sha Tsui to Lan Kwai Fong

Updated

Lan Kwai Fong is a steep little knot of bar streets a short walk uphill from Central MTR station. On Halloween it's the busiest street party in the city. Getting there is easy. The hard part is getting in late on the 31st and getting home after midnight.

Halloween · Sat 24 Oct (Wizard Block Party) and Sat 31 Oct (Monsters Night) · free entryStreet party nights in D'Aguilar Street, Lan Kwai Fong and Wo On Lane. On 24 Oct, DJs play at The Plaza 7–11pm. On 31 Oct there's a Monster Mash Show at 8–8:30pm. On 31 Oct the police usually queue people along Wellington Street and Stanley Street, and the bus and minibus stops on D'Aguilar Street and Wellington Street may be suspended, so arrive early and plan to walk the last part. The 2026 police traffic notice isn't out yet, so check it before you go. The Halloween sightseeing bus (17–18, 24–25 and 30–31 Oct) runs from 6pm and stops in Central on Jackson Road or Chater Road: see Discover Hong Kong.

Good to know

  • Leave Central station by Exit C (Li Yuen Street East) and walk uphill. The airport lines end at Hong Kong station, which links to Central by a passage.
  • Going home after the last train? Night buses leave from Des Voeux Road Central, a short walk downhill: plan the way home in the planner for tonight's times. Taxi queues get long after midnight, so walking down to Central Pier or Hong Kong station can be quicker.
  • The streets around Lan Kwai Fong are steep and packed on party nights, which makes them hard going in a wheelchair. Turn on step-free in the planner to see which Central exit has a lift. Lower Queen's Road Central and Theatre Lane are flatter.
  • Getting home on Halloween weekend (30 Oct – 1 Nov)
